Visit to the salt museum with a walk along the banks among the production pools of the Culcasi salt pans

Are you curious to find out how salt is born? This is the route of the water.

Our tour consists of 2 parts.

The first part focuses on the guided tour of the salt museum and the ancient mill from 1400, where you can really get involved in the history of salt, retracing not only the hard work in the salt pan, but above all, the history of the family that has been running it for generations.

The museum is located inside an ancient baglio (Sicilian rural farm) and is included in the official guide of the European Union. It is a strong testimony to the union that has always linked the salt and the sea.

During the second part of the route, you will have the opportunity to take a relaxing walk, discovering the infinite shades of white that characterize the salt, not to mention the blue of the sea, the gray clay and the pink of the tanks.

This route follows the perimeter of the salt pan until it reaches the banks of the salt pans where the water mirroring the sky. 

Through this tour, Saline Culcasi offers an experience suitable for all age groups within the WWF reserve, among protected plants and birds, so you can see the salt that forms in the tanks, collecting it with your hands and following step by step the whole process that transforms sea water into the salt that everyone knows.

You can reach us from 9.00am to 7.00pm; the duration of the tour is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will have the opportunity to fully enjoy the bright colours of the day and the romantic ones that characterize the sunset.
